Fattoush RECIPE

Fattoush is a popular salad in Middle Eastern cuisine that is made with a variety of fresh vegetables, herbs, and pieces of fried flatbread.

The ingredients are tossed together with a dressing made from lemon juice and olive oil. The vegetables used in fattoush can vary, but typically include tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and lettuce. Making it is very easy. Here is a recipe for making fattoush:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups chopped lettuce
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup diced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 2-3 pieces of flatbread, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, parsley, and mint.
  2. Heat a small pan over medium heat. Add the flatbread pieces and dry fry them until they are crisp and slightly browned.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the dressing to the bowl with the vegetables and toss to coat.
  5. Add the crispy flatbread pieces to the bowl and toss again.
  6. Serve the fattoush immediately. Enjoy!
